Central Florida has had an appetizer of the rainy season, but has not yet officially gotten into the rainy season for 2026.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) issued its first daily tropical outlook for the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season – and good news, no tropical cyclone activity is expected over the next seven days.

Tropical Storm Melissa is dragging slowly in the Caribbean Sea, which could bring heavy rainfall and flooding to parts of Hispaniola and Jamaica, the National Hurricane Center said.

Tropical depression strengthens into Tropical Storm Imelda

Tropical Storm Humberto formed Wednesday afternoon in the Atlantic, becoming the eighth named storm of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season, and is forecast to become a hurricane this weekend, the National Hurricane Center.

Gabrielle strengthened into a Category 1 hurricane on Sunday, becoming the second hurricane of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season. It comes as two other disturbances are being monitored by the National Hurricane Center for potential tropical development.  

Little change in strength is expected from Tropical Storm Fernand over the next 12 hours, and forecasters with the National Hurricane Center (NHC) say the storm will become post-tropical by Wednesday night.

The National Hurricane Center is monitoring Tropical Storm Fernand, which is expected to stay out in the open ocean, and Invest 99L, which has the chance of becoming a tropical depression.

Tropical Storm Fernand has formed in the Atlantic Ocean, becoming the 6th named storm of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season. Fernand is expected to stay out into the ocean and does not currently pose a threat to Florida or the United States.

The 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season runs for six months every year, from June 1 to November 30. It is important to stay alert, stay aware, and stay connected to the latest news and updates on potential tropical disturbances, storms, or hurricanes.

Moisture east of Florida in the Atlantic is expected to cross over Florida this week and could become a tropical system, bringing heavy rainfall to Orlando and Central Florida.

Tropical Storm Barry weakened to a tropical depression before making landfall Sunday night over Mexico, according to the National Hurricane Center.
