Study finds high levels of arsenic in rice
A new nationwide investigation by Healthy Babies Bright Futures (HBBF) has uncovered widespread contamination in store-bought rice sold in the United States, raising concerns about arsenic and cadmium exposure—especially among infants, toddlers and pregnant people. The 2025 report, "What’s in Your Family’s Rice?," found arsenic in every single rice sample tested, with more than 1 in 4 samples exceeding the FDA’s safety limit for infant rice cereal. Penguin Project to perform Aladdin Jr.
Penguin Project is musical theater for students with special needs paired with a peer mentor for support. This nationwide program has only five locations in Florida. Flagler Playhouse is in their third year for the program. The local group is putting on "Aladdin Jr." in June. Tickets start at $20. Jerri Berry, president of the Flagler Playhouse and head of the project, joins Good Day Orlando with some of her students to talk about the play and the importance of the program.
Country music artist Ry Rivers to perform in Orlando
Florida country music artist Ry Rivers is coming to Orlando. Rivers is set to perform on May 17 and May 31 at Ole Red Orlando. Rivers describes his music as a mix of traditional country sound with elements of R&B and soul, which he calls "blue-eyed country soul."
