Brevard Sheriff talks about man accused of driving off in ambulance

A 58-year-old Florida man was arrested after the Brevard County Sheriff's Office says he climbed into a parked ambulance and moved it because it was blocking his way. Paramedics were inside the ambulance working on a patient at the time. Sheriff Wayne Ivey joins Good Day Orlando to talk about the case.

New simulator teaches you how to escape a rip current

Do you know how to get out of a rip current? Do you know what a rip current feels like? A new simulator has debuted at Daytona State College, where Volusia County Beach Safety lifeguards can show kids, adults, and families what happens when you're stuck in a rip current and, most important, how to get out of one. Here are the main steps: Swim near a lifeguard, signal for help, then swim parallel to the shore. Once you realize you're out of one, then you can begin to swim towards shore again. FOX 35's Amanda Ruiz talked with Volusia County Beach Safety about the new simulator.

Florida mom, Volusia Sheriff talk 5-year-old boy hit by e-bike

Volusia Sheriff Mike Chitwood and Taylor Upchurch, the mother of 5-year-old Cole, who was hit by an e-bike while on the beach, joined FOX 35's Good Day Orlando talk about the crash, the investigation, and their new efforts to change e-bike regulations. The Volusia Sheriff's Office is looking to identify two teenagers who were on the bike.

FOX 35 honors Thomas Cole with Care Force Award

Thomas Cole was honored with the FOX 35 Care Force award on Wednesday morning for his lifelong commitment to Cocoa's children and families. Cole was born and raised in Florida, and graduated from FAMU. Among a list of achievements, one is the founding of the Emma Jewel Charter Academy in the former Monroe High School building. FOX 35's Marley Capper presented the award to Cole this morning.
