The battle over memorial benches in Mount Dora is continuing. Some people are upset after they paid to honor a loved one with a memorial bench, only to find that the city had removed it. Clermont man shot and killed by deputies overnight

A Clermont man was shot and killed by deputies overnight after they responded to reports of a suspicious person, officials say. The man killed has been identified as 39-year-old Eric Escoba. Officials have confirmed the deputy involved in the shooting was placed on administrative leave pending a review by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, which they said is normal procedure.

Dad wants daughter to be remembered for how she lived

Today, a father of one of the women who was in a car involved in a deadly Lake County crash is speaking out. The Florida Highway Patrol has used a video as part of its investigation showing the woman passing around a bottle of tequila, with the speedometer of the car showing 166 at one point. The video has since gone viral, but the father says he doesn't want the video to be how his daughter was remembered — he wants her to be remembered for the life that she lived.

State seeks death penalty for mother and boyfriend

Prosecutors have announced they will seek the death penalty for Kimberley Mills and her boyfriend, Andre Walker, who are accused of brutally beating and killing 10-year-old Tavares boy Xavier Williams. Xavier Williams died in March after weeks of fighting for his life at the hospital. Both Mills and Walker now face multiple upgraded charges, including first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse.

Xavier's mother, Kimberley Mills, and her boyfriend, Andre Walker, are each facing a murder charge in connection with the death of the Tavares boy who died of suspected torture and neglect, according to police.
