The sheriff's office reported all law enforcement personnel were safe and uninjured.
What we know:
Deputies with the Lake County Sheriff's Office responded to an armed domestic battery 911 call around 3 p.m., Aug. 20.
When deputies arrived at a Leesburg home in the 10100 block of Morningside Drive, a person armed with a gun confronted them, the sheriff's office said.
The armed person's actions "forced our deputies to discharge their firearms," resulting in the person dying, LCSO reported.
The person was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not released the person’s identity or provided additional details about what led deputies to shoot.

A neighbor provided video capturing the sound of multiple gunshots during the encounter.
Eric Cardona, who lives a few doors away, said the gunfire startled residents in what he described as a typically quiet neighborhood.
"When it happened we were shook," Cardona said. "We heard 6-8 gunshots and that’s not something you hear all the time, so when we came running to the window we saw the sheriff’s banding together, trying to go into the house."
