Eustis Fire: 1 hurt in building explosion, gas leak, fire, officials say

A suspected gas leak caused an unexpected explosion and fire in Lake County on Thursday morning, and sent one person to the hospital, according to Eustis Fire Chief Michael Swanson.

One person has been taken to the hospital after an explosion and fire at a business in Eustis, according to the Eustis Fire Chief Michael Swanson. Chief Swanson said the cause of the fire and explosion remains under investigation and remains a mystery. He said officials were conducting some work and utility work in the area when a natural gas leak was found. The gas company crimped the line, he said. At 10:57 a.m., there was an explosion and fire.

According to the Seminole County sheriff's office, the two men were involved in some sort of traffic-related incident and argument near the entrance of the Mandarin Estates subdivision. Both drivers were armed. Following a shooting, one man died. Detectives determined that the man who died first pointed his gun at the shooter. The shooter then pointed his own gun at the man and fired multiple times, killing the man, police said.
