A former teacher and basketball coach at a Florida high school turned herself into authorities to face an accusation of having sex with a 16-year-old student.

A Florida man with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is accused of having sex with multiple partners without informing them of his infection. At least two of the man's past partners have tested positive for the virus, investigators say.

A crash victim met two good Samaritans who helped pull her from the wreckage. "I was so thankful they drove by," said Katie Mannebach. "It could have been hours before somebody found me."

A driver accused of running through red lights learned the hard way that you can't escape the long arm of the law. After losing control of his vehicle, that driver crashed and attempted to flee pursuing officers. He was spotted by Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood who assisted in taking him into custody. The driver was arrested for driving without a valid driver's license and another charge related to carrying a concealed firearm.

The annual Biketoberfest is underway in Daytona Beach and organizers are keeping a close eye on the weather. A tropical system is moving across the state over the weekend and that could produce rain and wind for the region. Reservations were slow at the beginning but are starting to pick up, which is good news for Daytona Beach.

Beachgoers in Volusia County are being warned about dangerous rip currents. One man drowned in Ormond Beach, Florida over the weekend. The currents are expected to subside by the weekend, but swimmers are advised to stay near lifeguard stations.

A doctor has donated $10,000 to help make high school football safer. Her gift will help outfit Father Lopez High School players with helmets designed to reduce concussions. Dr. Whithey Shoemaker was honored at Friday night's game for her generosity.
