United Airlines says only about 300 employees out of its U.S. workforce of 67,000 face dismissal for refusing to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

The fire was quickly extinguished and no serious injuries were reported.

Pernell Anthony Jones Jr. and Donmonick Martin are accused of booking flights under false identities and making false claims to commercial airlines for reimbursement for lost luggage.

The bill, proposed by Sen. Dianne Feinstein, would require all domestic airline passengers to be fully vaccinated, submit a negative test, or show proof of full recovery from a COVID-19 infection.

United Airlines said it has already begun firing hundreds of employees who have refused to get vaccinated against the novel coronavirus.

The three people who died when a train derailed in rural Montana over the weekend included a Georgia couple who were on a cross-country trip to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary and 29-year-old Illinois man who was traveling to Oregon with his wife.

Since January, the Federal Aviation Administration has logged more than 4,200 unruly passenger reports, leading to more than $1 million in fines issued.

Despite a zero-tolerance policy enacted in January, the FAA is seeing a rise in violent, unruly passengers on planes. The agency has asked airlines to do more to bring those numbers down.

Earlier this summer, the state removed all testing requirements for vaccinated people.

Government antitrust lawyers said Tuesday that the deal between the two airlines will reduce competition and lead to higher fares.

Beginning in November, all foreign travelers flying to the U.S. will need to show proof of vaccination before boarding, as well as proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within three days of the flight.
