Virginia Beach Police dog bites suspect following traffic stop

A police dog bit a person who Virginia Beach police say ran from officers following a traffic stop.

News outlets, citing a police news release, report that the incident began around 3:30 a.m. Friday when an officer spotted a vehicle driving erratically and at a high rate of speed. An officer tried to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle.

When the vehicle stopped, three people ran from the car.

Officers were able to apprehend two of them. One of those two people was bitten by a police dog before being taken into custody. Police say the person who was bitten declined treatment by medics.

Police are still looking for one of the people who fled from the car.
