Manatees gather at Blue Springs State Park to stay warm

Manatees are gathering at Blue Springs State Park as they seek warmth on this cold Thursday morning.

The water at Blue Springs State Park is 72 degrees, which is the perfect temperature for the manatees as cold air moves through our area.

Blue Springs State Park is expected to be pretty busy on Thursday, as people are visiting to see the manatees up close.

St. Johns River Cruises offers visitors a chance to see those manatees. The tour also features a lot of birds and mammals that are indigenous to the area. In fact, on the tour, anywhere between 20 and 40 different species of birds can be seen.

Lows once again reached the 30s and 40s on Thursday morning, but things are warming up, as highs will reach the 60s. Temperatures should be back in the 80s by the weekend.
