Hurricane Idalia forms on path to Florida
Hurricane Idalia became a Cat. 1 storm near the western tip of Cuba early Tuesday morning on its path to Florida, the National Hurricane Center said.
ORLANDO, Fla. - The Orlando International Airport said Wednesday morning they anticipate staying open amid Hurricane Idalia's landfall in the Big Bend region.
MCO is open and operational, the airport said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, shortly before 8 a.m. Wednesday.
Flight disruptions, however, including delays, cancelations and bag delivery delays, are expected and may occur, the airport said.
Travelers are urged to check with their airlines for the latest updates.
MCO said it will post on its social media channels should any operational changes occur.

Other airport closures
Tampa International Airport is planning to open at 4 p.m. for arriving flights on Wednesday and will resume normal operations at 3 a.m. Thursday.
Orlando Sanford Airport is open and operational.
"We are monitoring the storm and we do expect some flight delays. Passengers should check with their airline," the airport said in a statement to FOX 35 News.
