Irma debris pick-up and drop-off underway in some counties

Seminole and Orange County are among the Florida communities opening mass debris drop-offs for Hurricane Irma survivors.

At a Seminole drop on near Dike Road and Dodd Road Friday, residents drove back and forth to the large lot with pickup trucks pulling trailers of branches, tree trunks, and other waste that’s been scattered in their yards since the storm.

Some residents said they’d packed their trailers with neighbors’ debris as well to help get their neighborhoods back to normal and leave the hurricane behind.

Most communities are also scheduling curbside debris pick up for residents. In many cities and counties that begins next week with some starting the following week.
