Family fights for daughter to be able to treat her seizures at school with cannabis oil
VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - A local family went before the Volusia County School Board on Tuesday to fight for their daughter.
Their daughter, Zoe, suffers from a deadly disease. She needs to take cannabis oil (commonly known as CBD oil) to treat seizures. However, the district will not allow her to take it at school, citing Federal law. The family hoped that the board will make a change for their daughter.
The school board agreed to hear the proposal and if accepted, it would allow Zoe's parents to give her CBD oil gummies without leaving campus. That issue will be heard during the next meeting. If approved, the district would become the only one of three in Florida to allow CBD oil on campus.
