Volusia County officials to ask for an increase in sales tax

Volusia County officials are preparing to ask voters to approve a half-cent sales tax.

A special election could be held as early as this Spring. The election could cost up to nearly 600,000.  Volusia officials will meet Monday to decide when the vote will happen.

If approved, sales tax in the county are expected to generate $42 million for roads, water quality, and flood control.
