Smash-and-grab burglars caught on camera

Authorities say some smash and grab crooks were caught in the act on a surveillance camera.

The video shows a car pull up to an Orange County business, and three guys rush out of the passenger side.  One runs up and kicks a window, while another uses a sledge hammer to break different one.

Melissa Loriston arrived to open her family's bakery, Lily's Bakery, on Silver Star Rd., last Monday, only to find their front door shattered.

"It looked a mess.  Bread was everywhere, there were juices on the floor. It was a mess. Basically, I think they were looking for money.  No money there, just coins," said Loriston.

Building owner Wanda Peavy Phillips says the same thing happened to her tenant next door.

"They just went in and vandalized basically. Took some change, broke some machines and left," said Peavy Phillips.

She's angry at the four suspects for the damages they did, so after giving her surveillance video to deputies, she posted it online.

"There's a lot more of us concerned citizens than there are of these criminals," said Peavy Phillips.

She's hoping someone recognizes the vandals or their car and calls investigators.   If you have information, call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS (8477)
