Robbery suspect apprehended by good Samaritans and held until police arrived

The Orange County Sheriff's Office says that on January 9th, deputies responded to a fight in progress at 12070 Collegiate Way. 

Upon arrival, they say that they apprehended the suspect being detained by a group of bystanders. The victim, 24, had been shot during an armed robbery attempted. A second victim, 191, was not injured.

Deputies say that the suspect had approached the first victim and attempted to rob him without success. He approached the second victim nearby who physically resisted and was shot by the suspect during the altercation. A nearby crowd observed the second altercation and proceeded to apprehend the suspect, disarming him by force.

The victim was reportedly transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC) with a NLT GSW in stable condition.

The suspect, identified as 24-year-old Leonard Patrick Jr. HIll, was said to have been arrested and transported to ORMC for treatment of injuries inflicted at the hands of the good Samaritans during his apprehension.

A stolen firearm was also recovered on scene.

Leonard was arrested for 2nd degree attempted murder with a firearm and robbery with a firearm and was transported to the Orange County Jail without incident.
