OUC sends crews to Michael-affected areas for water restoration

The Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC) reported on Friday that they are sending a total of 19 employees to Bay County, Florida to assist with water restoration efforts after Hurricane Michael passed through earlier this week.

The crews, who are departing in waves on Friday, will include electricians, damage assessors with expertise in helping prioritize power restoration, five three-man line crews, and those with a skillset to rebuild water distribution systems. OUC says that they are also sending backup generators and heavy equipment.

OUC also said that they expect their crews to be gone for seven days. Their employees are prepared to work 16 hour days.

This brings OUC's total to 40 employees deployed, as they previously sent 21 electric employees on Tuesday to Tallahassee. Those crews are still working to help restore power.
