One man hospitalized after shooting in Orange County

Deputies swarmed a neighborhood west of downtown Orlando on Sunday morning, after gunshots rang out. Patricia Smith says she heard it all.

“I ran out the door,” Smith recalled, “I had my meat in my hand because I was just fixing to put it on the stove for Sunday dinner.”

Orange County Sheriff's Office Deputy Ingrid Tejada-Monforte said it all started on a nearby street with an argument between three people, two men and a woman. The woman, claimed she'd been pistol-whipped. After that happened, deputies said the fight moved to a nearby street, where one of the men shot the other.

“Then they escalated and brought it to this location,” Tejada-Monforte explained, “where the shooting occurred this morning.”

Tejada-Monforte said this isn't the first time they've had to show up here. “Yes, they have responded here before for similar altercations.”

The shooting victim was sent to ORMC. Smith said it's the fourth shooting she's seen here in three years. She said she's moving out as soon as she can.

“I'm fed up with it,” Smith said, “as soon as I get my check, I'm leaving.

Deputies say the alleged shooter and the woman are both cooperating with the investigation.
