No charges against Orlando officers who kicked suspect

Two Orlando police officers will not face criminal charges for the arrest of a South Florida banker who was kicked repeatedly while sitting on a street curb as they tried to subdue him.

State Attorney Jeff Ashton said Thursday that Officers David Cruz and Charles Mays used reasonable force in response to the resistance of Noel Carter, who didn't follow the officers' orders.

The encounter last June was captured on video. Ashton says the officers initially used minimum force when they tried to arrest Carter, but Carter escalated the encounter by resisting.

Carter had asked Ashton to file battery charges against the officers. Ashton says while the video of Carter getting kicked is disturbing, it doesn't show the entire context of the confrontation.
