Man murdered in luxury downtown Orlando apartment

A 23-year-old man was shot and killed in a luxury downtown Orlando apartment complex early Friday morning.

Neighbors close to the crime scene told Fox35 that they were startled by a woman banging on their door screaming for help in the middle of the night.

When they opened their door to look down the hallway, they saw a young man bleeding - man later died at the hospital.

"We just heard blood curdling screaming,” Taylor Sambola said. “She was screaming for help. She banged on our door for a long time - a long time. We stayed inside and looked through the peep hole because I heard help and shot."

Moments later Orlando police officers were on the third floor of the Crescent Central Station Apartments where they found a man shot and bleeding.

Police said the victim was taken to a local hospital, where he died.

"She just said she found him like that,” Sambola said.

Sambola lives next door to the apartment that is now barricaded as a crime scene. She said she didn't hear gunshots last night, but saw her neighbor stop a man from trying to run away.

"One of the guys is actually a hero,” she said. “He stopped one of the guys."

She said officers arrived within minutes.

Police said they quickly identified several witnesses and suspects.  Throughout the day, homicide detectives gathered evidence and towed away one car from the scene.

The 23-year-old victim’s identity has not yet been released.

Police said they do not believe this to be a random act and are not looking for any additional suspects at this time.

So far no arrests have been made.
