WINTER PARK, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Commuters along eastbound lanes of Interstate 4 saw a significant change in how traffic exits off of the roadway onto Fairbanks Avenue in Winter Park. A new temporary exit has been added that shares an exit with Par St.
What they may not have noticed is a misspelling of the sign for the Princeton St. exit. The typo "Princenton" greeted drivers on the sign posted a mile ahead of the Princeton St. exit.
"The contractor will be correcting the sign tonight [Thursday]," said Jessica Ottaviano, with the Florida Department of Transportation.
A 21-mile stretch of I-4, from Kirkman Road to State Road 434, is undergoing a massive transformation, known as the I-4 Ultimate project. The estimated $2.3 billion project includes four new tolled express lanes down the center of the interstate, reconstructed interchanges, and completely rebuilt bridges. It is expected to open to the public in 2021.
