Brevard deputy thanks hospital staff who saved his life

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Brevard County Sheriff's Deputy Casey Smith was on the edge of death when he came to Wuesthoff Medical Center-Rockledge in the summer of 2015. Someone shot him during a prostitution arrest.

Doctors say when EMS workers got to the hospital's emergency room, Smith's condition was "as grim as it gets." But the medical team saved his life. Now, for the first time since that night, Deputy Smith met that team to say thank you. FOX 35's Tom Johnson takes you there.
