In a proposed re-drawing of congressional seats in Florida, Gov. Ron DeSantis created four more GOP seats. The new maps could be up for a vote in both chambers by Wednesday, April 29. 

Multiple Florida residents received letters removing their driving privileges due to no longer being insured. Now, Geico said the letter sent to insurance holders was due to an accidental reporting issue on their end. Geico is now working to correct the affected records. 

A three-year-old child is recovering after being hit by a jeep driver on the beach. The driver, Brock Winkler, 36, of Lakeland, is accused of having several alcoholic beverages before getting behind the wheel. In released body camera footage, Winkler could be seen telling deputies he wasn't driving anywhere. 

After Sloth World planned to open a sloth exhibit in Orlando, records released by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission show that tens of sloths died before the exhibit was set to take place. Now, the Central Florida Zoo is caring for 13 sloths that arrived underweight and dehydrated, one of which is in critical condition.

The FBI is investigating the suspicious disappearance of Alejandro Jacomino Gonzalez, 41, after he was last seen on April 17 at a truck stop in Brevard County. Gonzalez became unreachable and the truck was reported missing. The truck was found in Georgia the next day, but Gonzalez was missing.

Over 1,000 teenagers swarmed ICON Park on International Drive over the weekend, part of an apparent "takeover' event. The Orange County Sheriff's office said the takeover was organized through social media, though there's not a single promoter identified. 

The Ocala Police Department arrested two teens after they filmed reckless social media stunts that caused damage and raised safety concerns at a Target on Saturday. Authorities say 18-year-old Janek Szkaradek drove a lawnmower through a Target store on SW College Road, damaging a door, while 18-year-old Luke Charske recorded the incident. The night before, Szkaradek also used a leaf blower inside a nearby Culver’s restaurant.
