Tuesday is National Sandwich Day!

This photo from the American Heart Association's Twitter account shows how you can make a sandwich open-faced to cut down on added sodium.

Tuesday November 3rd is National Sandwich Day, and according to National Day Calendar, the sandwich is believed to be the namesake of John Mantagu, 4th Earl of Sandwich, following the claim that he was inventor of the sandwich. Before being known as a "sandwich," the food seemed to have simply been known as bread and meat or bread and cheese.

Arby's is offering their classic roast beef sandwiches for only 99 cents each at participating locations.

McDonald's is also giving away a free sandwich if you download their app, although this may not be a special just for National Sandwich Day.
