Tropical depression No. 12 forms far over Atlantic

Late Wednesday, TD 12 had maximum sustained winds of 35 mph (55 kmh) with a present movement to the west-northwest at 15 mph (24 kmh).  On the forecast track, the center of the depression should move away from the Cabo Verde Islands tonight and Thursday, with a gradual turn toward the west during the next couple of days.

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Julia continues to move slowly along the Atlantic Coast near the Georgia-South Carolina state line.   Julia was expected to bring 2 to 4 inches of rain to the South Carolina coast. Earlier forecasts estimated twice as much rain. Still, any rain could pose a risk of flooding in an area soaked by Hermine less than two weeks ago.
