Police: Woman used handicapped tag of deceased

A lone convertible parked in a marked, disabled parking spot at 1 a.m., in the middle of the bar district, raised a red flag for one Orlando police officer.

Records show the officer ran the number on the placard in the window, to make sure the permit was being used legally.  The officer noted that it came up registered to an 86-year-old woman.  Given the time and the place, the officer noted that he thought that was odd, and upon further inspection, he discovered the woman was deceased.

As the car was being towed, the officer said the driver, 26-year-old Florenceoshea Boyce, walked up.  The officer cuffed her, charging her for using another’s disabled parking permit.

According to Orlando Police, there has been “flagrant abuse” of drivers wrongly using disabled parking spots.
