Man shot outside Altamonte Springs home

Altamonte Springs Police are investigating a Sunday morning shooting on Ballard Street.

They say the shooting happened around 10:40 a.m.

The victim's roommate, Garrett Love, said the shots woke him up.

“I heard it, then I sat in bed for a good minute, then I heard him freaking out,” Love said. “I jumped out of bed, wondering what was happening. All that - I didn't really know much.”

When Love got outside of their house on Ballard Street he found his roommate bleeding on the stoop.

“He was just saying he got shot and he doesn't know what happened,” he said.

Evelyn Estevez, Altamonte Springs Police spokeswoman, says they’re still putting it all together.

“Not a lot of information that we have,” she said. “We're hoping that once the victim is able to talk to us and give us more information, we'll give out more information as to what happened today.”

Love said he never saw this coming.

“There was nothing... He was always good. Always great. I would never expect this to happen to him,” he said.

After the shooting, the victim was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center.

Police are searching for the shooter.
