Man on the run accused of kidnapping 4-month-old girl

LAKE MARY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Lake Mary Police are on the lookout for a 21-year-old man wanted on charges of kidnapping a 4-month-old girl Monday night.

The child is at home safe, but police say Roger Clinton Jones forced his way into an apartment at the Bell Timacuan Apartments, located on Silver Cloud Circle, and beat up two people inside to take the little girl.

Investigators say the baby's mother tried to stop him and that someone else used a car to block him from leaving, but the suspect was able to get away.

Police say Jones either stopped his car or broke down along I-4 westbound, near Maitland Boulevard.

Captain Mike Biles, with the Lake Mary Police Department, said, "He did get ahold of someone and have them meet him. Those individuals took the child to a party known by both sides of this. The child was ultimately recovered in Eatonville."

Jones' relationship to the baby is unclear. He tells police that he's the father, but officers say the baby's mother says he isn't.

Jones is facing felony charges, including kidnapping and battery.
