Man in custody after making bomb threat on a bus in Ormond Beach

A man is in custody after authorities received reports of a bomb threat in Ormond Beach on Wednesday morning.

At 8:52 a.m., authorities received a call that reported that a bomb threat on a Votran bus near the 900th block of S. Atlantic Avenue. A man had claimed that he had a bomb and that everyone had to get off the bus. 

SWAT responded and negotiations with the suspect began. He surrendered at 10:33 a.m.

The suspect was described as a man in a wheelchair with two duffel bags. 

Traffic in the area has been blocked off and surrounding schools were put on a precautionary lockdown. 

The bus is currently being searched with a robot to see if any threat remains. No bomb has been found yet.
