Man arrested in Florida in relation to Capitol riot, authorities say

Another person in Florida has been arrested for participating in the Capitol riot, authorities said.

The Middle District of Florida, a United States District Court, confirmed on Monday that Jonathan Munafo was arrested in relation to the Capitol riot.

Munafo is reportedly in custody in Orlando.

FOX 35 is working to learn what specific charges Munafo faces in connection with the Capitol riot.

However, we have obtained a criminal complaint for other charges.

According to the complaint, on January 5, 2021, Munafo made threatening phone calls to a 911 line in Michigan, tying up the emergency lines.

The document goes on to say he made 143 calls and threatened a 911 dispatcher, telling her he’d "kill her and attack her family" as he demanded to talk to a deputy.

On the same day, investigators say Munafo also searched "Freedom Plaza, Washington, DC" along with several firearm and military surplus stores.

At Monday’s hearing, Munafo told the judge he suffered from mental health issues.

However, he said he agreed that he was clear-minded enough to proceed with the hearing. A preliminary hearing was set for Friday.
