Floridians to weigh in on Common Core replacement

ORLANDO, Fla. (FOX 35 ORLANDO) - As "Common Core" is set to leave Florida public schools, you can help state leaders decide what students learn. 

Using a website called "EdCredible,"  Floridians can go online and share their thoughts.

The website breaks down, lesson by lesson, what students are currently learning at each grade level.
It describes what the current requirements are, then it asks if you think those requirements should be kept, cut, or changed - and if so, how to change them.

Governor Ron DeSantis has made an executive order scrapping the state's Common Core system.
He's tasked the education secretary with setting up a better program. 

“He’s going to suggest innovative ways to streamline some of the testing, and to make that so that it’s measuring success but that we’re not just teaching to test,” said DeSantis. 

The governor is calling for a transition plan out of Common Core by next year and for the new system to be in place throughout the state by 2021.
