5 loaded guns found at OIA in last 2 days

ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - The Transportation Security Administration at Orlando International Airport says five loaded guns were found at checkpoints by officers in the last two days. 

This year, a total of 66 firearms have been stopped at the passenger checkpoints.  The TSA reminds travelers who are traveling with a gun to make sure it is secured in checked luggage, and not in carry-on bags.

Passengers who bring firearms to a TSA federal checkpoint face criminal charges, possible arrest and are subject to a civil penalty of up to $12,000.

If you must travel with your gun, it must be in checked baggage, unloaded, in a locked, hard-sided case and declared to the airline at check-in.  

Each time a firearm is stopped, Orlando Police Department is called to take control of the weapon and determine if criminal charges will be lodged.
