Sentencing begins in trial of convicted killer Grant Amato
CHULUOTA, Fla. (FOX 35 ORLANDO) - The sentencing phase for convicted killer Grant Amato began on Monday in Seminole County.
Amato killed his two parents and brother in their Chuluota home earlier this year.
Prosecutors argued that his motive was his online obsession with a Bulgarian webcam model. They say he stole around $200,000 from his family to send to her. They said it was an argument over the money and Amato's online addictions that led Grant to kill mother Margaret, father Chad, and brother Cody. Prosecutors said Amato thought he would get away with it.
Just weeks ago, a jury found Amato guilty of three counts of first-degree premeditated murder in the shooting deaths of his parents and brothers.
The penalty phase of Amato's trial began on Monday.
