Repairs starting for closed stretch of State Road 434 affected by a depression

Repairs are starting on a busy Central Florida roadway that was shut down after a depression formed underneath the pavement.

State Road 434 (S.R. 434) between Artesia Street and Hammock Lane in Oveido is shut down in Seminole County because of a hole in the traffic lanes. Officials are calling it a depression, not a sinkhole. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) says the hole is so large that it could hold a tire.

This is not a small repair, as a drainage pipe had broke and carved out a very large area underneath the street. The entire pipe will have to be replaced. Repairs are planned to start this Monday, but there is no timeline on how long that will take.

Traffic will be quite an issue for those who live near here. Those who live around here will be able to travel south, but the northbound lanes will remain closed. If you are looking for an alternative route, use Tuskawillia Road and the 417 will get you around this area.
