Orlando-based Dating Website gets Bump from Royal Engagement

When the news broke that English Prince Harry had proposed to American actress Meghan Markle, people around the globe swooned at the fairytale news, and an Orlando woman got a serious bump in business.

Rochelle Peachey runs the dating website ‘I Love Your Accent.com.’ The website specializes in linking up Americans and Brits who want to try out love “across the pond.”

Peachey was woken by the news of the engagement early Monday morning and noticed the effects coming from the other side of the Atlantic already.

"Monday morning I started to look around and I noticed their screen names [British users] it was, ‘English prince here looking for my Meghan,’" said Peachey.

As America awoke to the news and began dissecting the relationship, she said sign-ups started pouring in from closer to home as well.

"And I noticed the Americans, people signing up with, look, I'm a Meghan! I'm looking for my prince,” said Peachey.

She said she really wasn’t surprised by the bump in business as the romance of a royal engagement tends to spread easily, and in this case, she said it also carries that allure of a common person becoming royalty through romance.

Peachey is originally from London where she said she specialized as a relationship expert. Since she moved to Orlando, she said people have constantly commented on their love for her British accent.

Well Peachey said the feeling is often mutual in her old home.

"It's not just American people who say 'I love your accent,'" she said.

So she decided to start the dating website as a way to unite people on both sides who are attracted to the other’s accent. She said, of course, a relationship won’t go far based on that alone, but she said she’s found it can be an attractor that opens the door to a bigger connection.

"We've had 16 weddings, 6 babies,” she said.

In the 5 years her site’s been running she said this is the first big royal love story to come out, and she said she’s really looking forward to the bump from the wedding. She says it’s not just good business, but more opportunities to spread some love.
