Orange County 'mob' street takeover: Here's the latest on search for 30
ORLANDO, Fla. - The Orange County Sheriff's Office is looking to identify at least 30 people who were in the area where a "mob" of people and vehicles aggressively took over an intersection and allegedly started a fire, damaged vehicles, and put peoples' safety at risk, officials said.
The incident happened on Nov. 30 near South John Young Parkway and cental Florida Parkway, officials said.
Here's the latest on the investigation.
What happened?
Two days after Thanksgiving, the Orange County Sheriff's Office said a group of people shut down an intersection south of Orlando. The group allegedly set a fire in the middle of the intersection, where cars then did donuts and burnouts around that fire.
Deputies said some people also damaged vehicles by stomping on car windshields, including one that had a mother and baby inside.
Video shared by the sheriff's office – pulled from social media – showed people yelling and screaming, smoke clouding the area, someone appearing to slide down the back of a vehicle, and performing donuts simultaneously.
‘Reckless and violent'
"This reckless and violent behavior poses a serious danger to our community and we are committed to holding those responsible accountable," the sheriff's office said in its post.
Orange County street takeover: Recognize any of these individuals?
Florida authorities are looking to identify some 30 people who were spotted in various videos during the street takeover – and are asking for the public's help. It's not known if anyone of them will face charges.
The sheriff’s office urges anyone who recognizes individuals from the scene to contact Crimeline at (800) 423-TIPS (8477), or the Sheriff’s Office directly.
