Dedicated fans wait through the night to watch the Rolex 24 race in Daytona

The Rolex 24 is a 24-hour race, so that means teams and racers had to keep going throughout the night. Many of the fans were right there with them, like John Paul, who had been there the entire night.

What they're saying:

"Yeah, I've been here since one, yesterday. One in the afternoon," he said.

Huddled in his sleeping bag, racing fan Paul said he and his brother have made the Rolex 24 ‘all-nighter’ a tradition. He said the energy of the race carried them through.

"Electric. People are really passionate here. Friendly staff, friendly people. Everyone seems to have skin in the game, no matter at what level." Paul said.

61 teams have taken part in this race and more than 200 drivers have been out on the track.

Sebastian Priaulx, a Ford Performance driver, said it was a true test of endurance.

"Depends on how much time they want you in the car for, but obviously there's a maximum of time you're allowed in the car so you have to change drivers so it's tough on the body, for sure. I'm ready for a bit of rest." Priaulx said he appreciated the fans who also went the distance. "Definitely, this even is one of the biggest of the year really, so I feel that. When you're on track you feel the atmosphere, you know?"

Lots of parents also showed up with children big and small. They hoped to bring a love of racing to the next generation.

"It's very good," said Marcus Pereira, a racing fan and former driver, "I bring my son to just see, just experience for him, you know?"
