Altamonte Springs purifying water from sewers, storms, and more

Would you drink water that came from sewage? The City of Altamonte Springs is leading the way in making this a reality.

Altamonte Springs is calling 'Pure-Alta' the future, as it takes water from all over and makes it drinkable. This includes water from sewers, reclaimed, storm water, rain, etc. And the city says that the water created is actually cleaner than drinking water.

The water is reportedly put through four different treatments, cleaning it every step of the way.

Right now, the purified water is returned to the city's reclaimed water system, where it is being used for irrigation.

This water initiative would give Altamonte Springs the ability to meet its water demands without having to take it from an aquifer.
