Freeze warnings issued in Central Florida, frost likely this weekend
ORLANDO, Fla. - Parts of northwest Central Florida will be under a Freeze Warning this weekend, with early Saturday morning bringing the possibility of patchy frost as temperatures are forecast to drop to or below freezing in some areas.

Despite the cold start to the morning, temperatures will make a big jump through Saturday afternoon with high temperatures getting into the 60s.
What is a Freeze Warning?
A Freeze Warning is issued when temperatures are projected to dip below 32 degrees for a long period of time, according to the National Weather Service.
Why you should care:
This temperature can kill certain commercial crops and home plants, and frozen pipes can be catastrophic and costly.
"Water expands when it freezes, which can increase the pressure within a closed pipe to the point that it causes a pipe burst," according to Shell Energy's website. "Even if the burst is minor, the volume of water that leaks out of the pipe can cause significant damage."
Cold weather can also cause tire pressure to drop and batteries to fail.
What you can do:
Here are some useful tips from The Auto Club Group (AAA) to help protect your home during freezing temperatures:
- Remove hoses from exterior faucets.
- Let faucets drip a little bit to prevent freezing pipes.
- Keep bathroom and kitchen cabinet doors open to let warm air circulate around the pipes.
- Know where your water shutoff valve is so that you can turn off the water in case of an emergency.
- Take photos of any damage and immediately and contact your insurance provider.
When will warmer weather return?
Local perspective:
As we break free from the dreary, wet, and cold pattern, expect warmer temperatures and plenty of sunshine on Sunday, with highs reaching the upper 60s and low 70s.
Next week, as high pressure moves into the region, the Central Florida region will warm up even more, bringing a dry, sunny stretch with highs climbing into the upper 70s by Friday.
