Sheriff: Man arrested after firing into home with AK 47

An accused drug dealer is off the streets, after authorities said he almost killed a 12-year-old boy with a gun during a drive-by shooting.

In home surveillance video released by authorities on Friday, you can hear the barrage of gunfire as bullets struck a Deltona home, where a child was sitting inside.  The incident happened back in October.

"One of the rounds almost struck the 12 year old in the head as he was sitting there playing video games," said Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood.

Deputies arrested 28-year-old Michael Lawson, Jr. after what Sheriff Chitwood called a drug deal gone bad.

"He went to pick up his marijuana and had been ripped off by the homeowners, and his idea of retaliation was to come by there and light up the house with an AK-47. Thank the good Lord nobody was killed."

Chitwood said the girlfriend of the child's father was also arrested after she deleted home surveillance video of the incident. Chitwood said that, luckily, deputies were able to retrieve it.
