POLICE: Suspect uses 'In My Feelings' challenge as alibi
ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - It’s the song you keep hearing over and over, but Drake’s "In My Feelings" single is best known for the viral dance that goes with it.
Thousands of videos of the so-called “Keke” or “Kiki” challenge -- a dance filmed from a moving car -- are all over social media.
“It’s that popular dance that’s all over the Internet now thats kind of gone viral, that’s what his excuse was for being in the parking lot,” said Officer Evelyn Estevez with the Altamonte Springs Police Dept.
For Aldric Barrett, 18, officers say the challenge led to him getting locked up. In body camera video from the Altamonte Springs police department you can see the 18-year-old talking to cops after officers say someone reported the teen breaking into cars in the parking lot here at the Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham hotel in Altamonte Springs.
“There was about 12 vehicles that were broken into based on the totality of everything what we found on him,” Estevez said.
You can see in officer body camera video, a pile of cell phone chargers and accessories which officers found on him. They say they also found a window punch. He told officers he was doing the dance challenge with friends in the hotel parking lot, when they ditched him.
“Apparently with this viral dance, you have to kind of step out of your vehicle and do it. At that point, the people that he was with in the vehicle left him in the parking lot and his cell phone was inside," Estevez said.
Barrett faces charges including burglary and criminal mischief
