Dig deeper:

On the afternoon of March 6, Scottsdale Police released body camera video of Brooks' arrest.

In the video, a Scottsdale police officer can be heard telling Brooks he smelled marijuana, and Brooks said he hadn't smoked or drunk in the last six months. The officer then told Brooks it smelled like a dispensary in the car.

After taking Brooks' information, more officers arrived, and a field sobriety test was conducted. The test included standing on one foot, following a pen with his eyes, and walking in a straight line. Brooks appeared cooperative the entire time.

After a breathalyzer test, police put Brooks in handcuffs.

Big picture view:

Brooks has been sidelined for weeks due to a hand injury. He came to the Suns as part of the Kevin Durant trade.

The Suns are battling for a playoff spot this season, with a 35-27 record. Phoenix lost to the Chicago Bulls on Thursday night.

In a statement, Suns officials say they are aware of the situation, and are gathering more information.
