Palm Coast man charged with killing his ex-wife faces a judge
FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - A Flagler County man faced a judge Tuesday morning. He is being charged with beating and kicking his ex-wife to death after an argument about infidelity.
Michael Cummings appeared in court on a video feed from the county jail.
“You're being charged this morning with second-degree murder with a weapon,” the judge read the charges, and denied him bail, “Mr. Cummings, I'm going to go ahead and leave the bond set at none. The state is going to be filing a motion for pretrial detention in your case.”
After the hearing, the Public Defender told Cummings not to discuss the case with anybody but his attorney. Cummings had plenty to say, though, when he called 911 on the night deputies say he murdered his ex-wife, Faith, in a jealous rage. Cummings told the operator that he was trying to save his dying ex-wife, telling her he'd been doing CPR on Faith "for hours."
It was a claim that had the operator asking more questions. “What time did you start CPR and why didn't you call us sooner?” the operator asked.
“Because I can't, man,” Cummings stammered “I'm so... oh my god.”
The dispatcher asked Cummings how his ex-wife got hurt.
“Oh my god, she got mad,” Cummings replied, “she ran to take a shower and she … started throwing [things] around. Next thing you know, I find her … find her lying on the floor.”
Investigators say it was Cummings, though, who beat his ex-wife to death and then tried to cover it up.
