Nikki's Blankets needs new leader for charity
ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Ten years ago, Nikki Kingsland -- who was nine years old at the time -- started her own charity, called "Nikki's Blankets."
Nikki began collecting blankets for the homeless and poor. Each year she collects them, then distributes them leading up to Christmas. A few years back, we followed Nikki on Christmas Day as she loaded the blankets in cars and drove with her family to Lake Eola and distributed them to those in need. She has collected and distributed thousands of blankets since then.
Nikki is now 18 and about to go away to college. So, this is the last season she will be running the charity. She does not want it to end though, so she is currently trying to find another young person to take it over and keep it going.
