Florida senior couple looking for good Samaritans who saved them, their dogs from drowning

A senior couple in Florida is trying to find the good Samaritans who saved their lives from almost drowning in the ocean.

They said they probably would have drowned if it wasn’t for several mystery teenagers who ran to help and successfully brought them, as well as their three tiny dogs, back to shore.

How did the couple get pulled out to sea?

The backstory:

Paula-Marie Shane and Duane Feldman went for a walk on the beach Jan. 5 in Brevard County, when an unexpected wave pulled them out to sea.

Shane was swept out to sea first by a rogue wave. Feldman ran to help, but she wasn’t the only one in danger.

The couple had all three of their tiny pups with them, who also were being swept out to sea.

What they're saying:

Shane and Feldman said they take walks on the beach all the time, but they didn’t stay on the sand during their last walk.

"The riptide is unbelievably strong," said Feldman. "Every time I would try to grab for them, a wave would hit me, and I would just be knocked flat again."

"It came in out of nowhere and knocked me face first," Shane said. "I come up with a mouthful of sand and seawater, and I am totally disoriented."

Feldman kept trying to get his dogs out of the water, but knew he was in trouble.

"I was literally afraid that if I couldn’t get him on the next stop, I wasn’t going to make it because I was already waist deep," he said. "I could barely stand up just to walk."

Hometown heroes

Why you should care:

Out of nowhere, strangers rushed in to help.

"They struck me as athletic type kids," said Feldman.

"They struck me as angels; they were wonderful," Shane added.

The unknown angels rushed into the ocean and pulled the struggling couple to shore. The kids also were able to save the dogs — Chewbacca, Anguish and Mr. Big Stuff — from the raging sea.

What you can do:

"I would love to thank them, because I don’t think I did," said Shane.

All the couple wants to do now is thank the teens, who risked their own lives to save theirs.

It’s still an emotional experience for them to process, and they’re hoping one day to meet their heroes face-to-face.

"It was the kids that saved us all," said Feldman. "It was just so kind of them."

If you have any idea who could have saved this couple, let FOX 35 know.

Some details to keep in mind is that the save happened two Sundays ago at Ocean Avenue Park in Melbourne Beach.

The couple remembers five to six kids being there, and at least one girl with dark hair.
