Aldi UK store removes Argentinian wine from shelves ahead of World Cup match

Ahead of the FIFA World Cup match between England and Argentina, one U.K.-based Aldi store is apparently taking a stand in solidarity with their national soccer team.

An Aldi grocery store in the U.K. appeared to remove its Argentinian Malbec wine from shelves before Wednesday’s game.

The post, shared by the Aldi UK official Instagram account, shows an image of an empty shelf with a printed sign that read: 

"We have removed our Argentinian Malbec from the shelves in solidarity ahead of the game tomorrow. It’s coming home!" 

The post’s caption read: "If this doesn’t help us win, we don’t know what will." 

The post has received over 10,000 likes and nearly 100 comments.

Users appeared to be amused by the gesture, with some commenting in support and confusion.

The U.K. will face off with Argentina on July 15 at Atlanta Stadium.
