Sheriff Grady Judd leads cartel crackdown
Sheriff Grady Judd says Polk County detectives seized 64 pounds of fentanyl in what the sheriff's office calls the largest fentanyl seizure in the county's history. Judd says the investigation began in July 2024 and involved Mexico's two largest cartels: Jalisco and Sinaloa. Six suspected Jalisco members and two Sinaloa members have been arrested. A total of 35 pounds of fentanyl were seized from Jalisco and another 29 pounds were seized from Sinaloa, according to Judd ? enough to kill 14.5 million people.

Robin Lynn Severance Lopez, the wife of suspended Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez, made her first court appearance Tuesday after being booked on charges of conspiracy to commit racketeering and conspiracy to use or invest proceeds from racketeering. On Tuesday, a Lake County judge set her bond at $400,000. If she posts bond, she will be placed on GPS monitoring, must surrender her passport and any firearms, and is prohibited from having any contact with Marcos Lopez.
