Orlando attractions announce post-Irma openings
Orlando area theme parks and attractions announce they plan to open now that Hurricane. Other are still monitoring efforts to repair damage and/or restore power.
Walt Disney World Resort says that, after an initial assessment of property, Disney World’s Theme Parks and Disney Springs will reopen Tuesday, Sept. 12 with normal, advertised operating hours. Special events, such as Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, will also take place. Water Parks will remain closed tomorrow and will reopen later this week. Details to follow. Hours of operation for Tuesday are listed below:
- Magic Kingdom Park – 9:00am-7:00pm
- Epcot – 9:00am-9:00pm
- Disney's Animal Kingdom – 9:00am-9:00pm
- Disney’s Hollywood Studios – 9:00am-9:00pm
- Disney Springs – 10:00am-12:00am
- Blizzard Beach – Closed
- Typhoon Lagoon – Closed
Universal Orlando says the resort destination saw relatively minor damage overnight involving fences, trees, signage and building facades. They are hard at work inside the parks and says they will open on-time for Tuesday at 9 a.m. for Universal Studios Florida, Universal's Islands of Adventure and Universal's Volcano Bay. In addition, they confirm that Halloween Horror Nights event will begin as scheduled this Friday.
SeaWorld Orlando, Aquatica Orlando and Discovery Cove will remain closed on Tuesday, September 12 to allow for additional debris clean-up from Hurricane Irma.
"We expect SeaWorld Orlando and Aquatica Orlando to reopen on Wednesday, September 13. Stay tuned for updates on Discovery Cove. For all parks, guests are encouraged to check our websites and follow our social media channels for more updates," SeaWorld says.
LEGOLAND Florida Resort, including LEGOLAND Florida Theme Park, LEGOLAND Water Park, LEGOLAND Hotel and LEGOLAND Beach Retreat, currently are closed and without power.
"We continue to assess the storm's impact and we will re-open only after power has been restored and when it is safe to do so.
We will post any operational changes at www.LEGOLAND.com/hurricane and on our social media channels, including information about when the theme park, water park and accommodations will re-open," the resort says.
Guests with reservations for overnight accommodations at LEGOLAND Florida Resort are encouraged to seek shelter elsewhere.
