A Sanford family is trying to recover anything they can, after their home was destroyed in a fire.

"The smoke was coming out so heavy it was just horrible," said Louise Dever, who was sleeping when flames broke out in her daughter's home.  "The only thing I remember is, the neighbor lady screaming and she broke the window, screaming fire get out. The boys came, they woke me up and I just grabbed them and we went out the back door. They had nothing, no shoes, no socks, they were in their boxers."

Luckily, her daughter, two grand sons and pets got out ok.

"The kittens came to the door. So I took them, the boys were in the truck."

Firefighters say the family had been using candles and space heaters..they believe the fire was electrical.

"We had recently had the furnace turned back on. The guy said the breaker was flipped he didn't know why."

Dever says she was visiting for the holidays.  Now, all their Christmas gifts are gone, destroyed in the blaze.

"Their bikes melted. They got bikes for Christmas, they got new clothes, everything. There's nothing."

She's grateful to her friends, John and Melanie, for helping them.

"They've taken us in for now, and he's started a Go Fund Me page. If anybody out there has any suggestions for a single mom and two boys, I would appreciate it."

While they lost everything, they realize they have what's most important.

"God has a plan somehow and we'll get through it, we're gonna start over, what else can you do."

Dever says her daughter did not have any renter's insurance.
