Boil-Water Notice in effect for area near Downtown Leesburg
LEESBURG, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - The City of Leesburg Public Works Department has issued a Mandatory Boil-Water Notice for some homes and businesses.
The particular areas affected are:
- The area between North 13th Street to Thomas Avenue (east to west) and from Center Street and Montclair Road to Vine Street (north to south).
- Silver Point Apartments
- The Crossings
Officials recommended that all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, or washing dishes is boiled. Hold the water at a rolling boil for at least one minute before using it.
They also say that the boil-water notice will remain in effect until two consecutive days of a Bacteriological Survey shows that the water if safe to drink. The City will provide notification when the Boil-Water Notice has been rescinded.
The notice is in effect for any home or business that experienced a loss in water service or a severe drop in water pressure.
The notice was announced following the repair of a water main break in the water distribution system connected to the elevated water tower located on North College Street between West Main Street and High Street.
